Netherlands routes – 2025
Here’s a map of the 12 Dutch provinces. Over the years we’ve spent time in all of them except the southernmost -Limburg. This year we plan to rememdy that. Limburg borders on both Belguim and Germany, and holds the oldest Dutch city, Maastricht. We plan to spend several days in Maastricht on our way south to France, and then a few more in the area around Valkenburg, home to a 12th century ruin and hundreds of miles of tunnels through the solid marl stone.
This trip we’ve spent time in North Holland and Utrecht, and on our way south we’ll visit several towns in Gelderland, North Brabant and Overissel.
Right now we’re nestled in a cozy corner of the Vecht River, about 20 km north of Utrecht. This is our favorite part of the Netherlands so we also plan to spend a few days here on our return trip.
