Day 2 Amsterdam, Zanse Schans and  Haarlem

Windmills and Polders and Beer… what fun!

Gandalf left Amsterdam Harbor early for Zaandam. A lavish breakfast was served underway.  It was a lovely day with a ride to the Open Air Windmill Village museum at Zanse Schans, then up to Wormerveer then circled back down through charming small towns and then vast polders to the ferry at Spaarndam where we stopped for lunch. 

From there it was a beautiful scenic ride through the Spaarn Wood and then along the Spaarn River. This is a route we had not had a chance to ride before, so very good to know about.  After a beer stop by a canal we followed the river down to where to the good ship Gandalf was tied up right in downtown Haarlem.
